The pattern appears after the protocol, server, and port if any of the URL. It also excludes the first slash in the URL. Any query string from the original rule is not considered or included in the rewritten URL. If the incoming URL matches the pattern below, it will be processed by only by this rule.

Powershell Script To Enable Proxy Within IIS (ARR)

For a site, it is assumed that the mapping will not require a variable port number. Any site will do, since the end result will be no change for this specific site. At this point, a message box will display asking permission to enable the proxy functionality. There is no need to continue to set up URL rewriting at the site level, which is what continuing will do.

The only reason to do any of this configuration is to be sure that the proxy functionality is enabled and this has now been accomplished. Unfortunately, the dialog box asking for this permission will continue to display every time a new site proxy is requested, assuming it has not been accepted previously.
