I have a 3GS. Same problem with El Ishak. I plugged my iphone twice on dock speaker and after that worked like a charm. Thanks El Ishak. Check the 'silence' button on the left side of your phone above the volume buttons. If you can see the orange dot, your phone is set to silent. Ive noticed that alot of phone covers hide the button so alot of people dont even know its there. There are actually two possible issues here. One is due to the upgrade to 4. There is a wealth of information about this on the Apple fora, and a few solutions, but they do not always work. It seems to be a mass issue. Solution very welcome FYI, while plugging in an headset without mic on the Iphone4, the mic on the iphone works normaly.

It seems the switch function for the mic is reversed. Any way to solve this bug?
