Try using the "Windows Phone" app from the Windows Store instead. I dont think the desktop version works in Win8.

Can I download this to my deskstop? Not sure. I have not used it. But I think its just for Metro Zune works fine on Windows 8. Try re-installing Zune. Do whatever you want to do man.
