We were considering getting my husband a 32gb new ipad, read reviews and support forums, and for different reasons we bought refurbed ipad 2's, and given the Apple on-line price, we went for 64 gb. He really doesn't really need it, but it was a deal. My younger son in college also got one and almost immediately used up over 22 gb.

He's got a lot more on it now. He definiely needed that 64 gb. Note that if you get a 16 gb, you do not actually get 16 gb of space to use.

And as Alley Cat said and as soon as I read your post, I thought about the music thing, too. As you read, you might love listening to music. If you're not the ipad type my husband was not at all - four financial screens at work and he's done when he leaves. Now that he knows all that he can do on an ipad, he will start to use more space.

If you don't want to buy itunes, you can upload cd's to your computer then to itunes, and put them on your ipad. And I just found a note I made about Splashtop Streamer , that I had read about but completely forgot about.
