This is probably the biggest change to the Assassin's Creed formula - tower defence gameplay from the third-person viewpoint of Ezio, the Den commander! But his cazzo was engaged to 6 others. After spending the last two games having minstrels get in my way, it is very satisfying taking out a few without being sanctioned for it, quite cathartic. Even better was listening to the songs that Ezio sings, recounting the tales of his past and even breaking the 4th wall was amazing.

The beginning of the sequence definitely breaks up the monotony. Ezio's songs are great! I also enjoy Ezio and Sofia's growing relationship, and Ezio learning about Altair : Funny seeing Duccio again,though he seems to have aged less than Ezio. The songs are the best.

I just stayed by the entrance and played them all before going inside so I would not miss any lol. The Ezio-Sofia stuff is always nice to see for our old hero. And duccio, well seeing him run scared is always amusing. I love how in one of the database descriptions I believe it says he died of rabies from being bit by a rabid dog. Anyways Galata Tower is a nice climbing mission and I think this is where the Altair missions start to become more interesting. I love those songs, all about Ezio's old stories.

I actually forgot how much I enjoyed the story design for AC:R. It has a genuinely good claim to be the best written game in the series, and things like the funeral flashback make this all the better. Did experience a couple of bugs at the party with the musical distraction not working, but that might have just been me being thick. Other than that, no real challenges to this sequence. For instance, recovering the package undetected took me about 20 seconds, with a bomb, then a couple of recruit calls, and just run to it at your leisure. Hopefully it gets more challenging in later sequences.

We meet Duccio once again. He doesn't seem to be as arrogant as before, though. I like seeing Ezio interact with Sofia, the pair are quite charming together - even if she was born the same year that AC2 began. A bit of an age difference there. It never really occurred to me until now how Abbas was never really a proper character until this game.
