Battery drained! Sometimes it switches off, and when re-started often having to take battery out and put back in it has drained to approx.

We have bought a new battery and same issues. How often it checks depends on your Screen timeout setting. A number of people have encountered problems with the stock messaging app randomly crashing when they are reading, writing, or trying to send a text message.
