In my review of the Kindle 2 I mentioned that rumors were swirling about Amazon possibly releasing a Kindle app for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Well those rumors turned out to be true as I found this morning when I looked in the app store and found the Kindle for iPhone app! Yep, now you can read your Kindle ebooks right on your iPhone or iPod Touch. The Kindle for iPhone app is free and weighs in at a very petite 2. I had no problems signing in to my account.

The books will download right onto your iPhone and you can then begin reading them by simply clicking on the title of the book on the Home page in the Amazon Kindle for iPhone app. The Home screen can be viewed by Recent, Title, or Author. I see the Kindle 2 and the iPhone, for me at least, as complementary devices. I will always opt for the Kindle 2 when I am home or otherwise have access to it. This works across platforms and even across formats.

A Kindle is the best device for reading eBooks with bar none. No phone or tablet or computer can compete on pure reading experience. Now though, I have 3G on all my devices.

The beauty of a 3G Kindle is that it always works. Maybe it should be that the Kindle ecosystem is. And you should do what you can to embrace it.
