The Samsung Galaxy Active2 smartwatch adds LTE connectivity along with a few useful new features, but it's not a compelling upgrade over the original model. While it's not a drastic upgrade from the original model, there are some welcome changes and additions.

The biggest difference is that the Active2 comes in not only two case sizes, but two different versions: Bluetooth-only or Bluetooth and cellular. The smartwatch also features a new digital rotating bezel for more intuitive navigation, a My Style app for customized watch faces, and an updated version of Running Coach.

The first-generation Active comes in one 40mm case size, as a Bluetooth-only model. The Galaxy Watch Active2, on the other hand, comes in 40mm and 44mm cases. The Bluetooth-only model is made of aluminum and is available in black, pink, or silver, all of which come with a matching silicone strap. The Bluetooth and cellular model, meanwhile, is stainless steel and comes in black, gold, or silver with matching leather straps.

Samsung also offers a variety of different 20mm watch bands to purchase. Pricing for the LTE models depends on the carrier you buy it through. It's also important to note that you'll have to pay an additional monthly fee for a data plan with your cellular provider.

I tested the 40mm aluminum model in pink, and prefer it to the stainless steel. The aluminum makes for a more casual look that blends in nicely with any outfit.
