I'm having the same issue even connecting to open networks with no authentication. Could it be a hardware issue?

I think the issue started with me when the phone severely overheated overnight. It is not a hardware issue. It is merely a software problem, no need to panic. I am still experiencing the problem when i connect to my old wifi router. I believe i have read it online that ever since the JB updates, the S3 wont connect to any insecure wifi routers for safety purposes..
